
RESPONSE TO KEBBI STATE SCHOOL ABDUCTION IN NIGERIA

Approximately 25 school girls from the government girls comprehensive secondary school, Mega, Kebbi state, Nigeria were abducted and the vice principal reported killed.
We condemn the attack in the strongest terms, and offer deepest condolences to the family of the slain Vice-Principal and the families of the abducted girls.
This attack is a heinous violation of human rights and a direct assault on the fundamental right of every child especially every girl to receive an education in safety.
We call on the Federal and State Governments of Nigeria to utilize all resources for the immediate, unconditional, and safe return of the girls. and to reinforce security around schools immediately.
We reaffirm our commitment to supporting safe and inclusive education in Nigeria.
Action are being taken to contact global and regional partners working on the Safe School Declaration to align advocacy efforts and coordinate resources.
