The anniversary outreach

The anniversary outreach by Divine Mother of Children Foundation in Ikot Obiokpon will remain evergreen in the hearts of the people of this beautiful Village. The compound of late Engr. Udo Udo Etim was a myriad of activities as people of all ages tropped in and out beaming with smiles and excitement that could not be concealed. By 11AM, the sitting room of this famous compound was filled to the brim with widows and children who were eagerly anticipating the arrival of the team from Divine Mother of Children Foundation. By 1:30PM the vehicle conveying the team wheeled into the compound signalling the end to their long wait. Prayer was followed by joyous singing of praise and worship songs backed with dance steps that could only be fueled by a heart of gratitude. We had doctors from the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital give a talk on epilepsy and managing your health in old age. We also had the women check their Blood Pressures and medical counsel given to each individual. The climax of the outreach was the back to school gifts to the vulnerable children and orphans and then the handing of food stuff and cash gifts to the orphans. As it is in our culture, we went with extra packs to give to some who were not orphans and widows but were needy and vulnerable. We remain grateful to God and overwhelmed by His choosing us as His channel to put smiles on the faces of widows and orphans this nine years.
